8:25 am - The State of Recycling in Utah & the US

Anyone close to recycling knows the recycling markets are looking at some shift and changes. Material pricing are still at major lows. Beau Peck (Interwest Paper) and Larry Gibbons (RMR) will talk about the current market for materials and what the future holds for recycling in Utah and across the country

8:55 am - The Future of Solid Waste and Recycling in Utah

Senator and Herhoff Utah CEO, Curtis Bramble has been invited to speak. Herhoff is a new technology based in Germany which manages the entire solid waste and recycling waste stream. This system is essentially considered an "Energy recovery from waste" system. The aim of the system is to extract “energy from residual material” producing a product called Herhof Stabilat®. This product is a “storable substitute fuel that can be used in a flexible manner both temporally and spatially. Always and anywhere where energy is needed.”

Mr. Bramble will discuss how this system works and the benefits of bringing the technology to Utah.

10:05 am - Utah Proposal for Electronics Recycling

Brandon Seegmiller of HP and Doug Smith with Sony will outline some proposed legislation for Utah to consider. The legislation seeks to establish an eco-fee for tv, computer, and other electronics at the point of purchase. OEM’s will submit plans for recycling these materials. This is a grass-roots effort to provide local gov’ts with the funding and means to manage this material.

St. George Mayor, Jon Pike (invited) will speak to what is up and what is coming to St. George.

11:20 am - The Future of Washington County

Washington County Commissioners have been invited to discuss the future of Washington County

11:40 - Innovation

Innovation is a tool every recycler has in their tool chest. We will hear from some of Southern Utah’s greatest innovators in business and cancer research. Learning how these bright minds have executed on great ideas will inspire attendees to do the same!
