9:20 am “New EPA Grants and Tools for Solid Waste and Recycling Infrastructure and Education” – Virginia Till, EPA Region 8. Learn the facts and have a discussion about the new recycling infrastructure grants and education EPA will release in fall 2022. $275 million has been provided for Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) grants. This includes $55 million per year from Fiscal Years 2022 to 2026 to remain available until expended. EPA was provided an additional $2.5 million in Fiscal Year 2022 funding to implement the program. These grants will provide money to improve post-consumer materials management and infrastructure; support improvements to local post-consumer materials management and recycling programs; and assist local waste management authorities in making improvements to local waste management systems. Representative Doug Welton’s HB 394 which passed last session dealing with recycling reporting. Join in the discussion on reporting requirements and the direction of recycling for the State of Utah.
