Susan Hayward is the Manager of Community Programs for Waste Management of Utah, a newly established position in the State of Utah. She works with communities and private businesses to help them develop solutions for recycling and sustainability. She is the spokesperson for the company in Utah, working with media, community groups, legislators and city councils. She is excited about being part of a company with high ethical standards and a commitment to truly making a difference in our environment. Susan is a native of Utah, recently returning to her home state after working as a State Director in South Dakota for almost five years. Under the Department of Agriculture, she managed the South Dakota State Fair, a 180 acre facility with 80 buildings, 1300 campsites, 350 employees, and events on the grounds throughout the year. Her appointment to this position was made through the governor of South Dakota as the fair was experiencing some extreme financial stress. She worked diligently with the state legislature and individual communities to raise funds and commitment for the fair. After four years the fair was in the black with an increase in fair attendance and triple the number of interim events taking place at the facility. Prior to leaving for South Dakota, Susan worked for the City of Draper as the communications liaison between the mayor/city council’s office and the community. She also worked for the Salt Lake City Council Office for four years and the Utah State Fair for five years. She has been a volunteer on the Days of 47 Rodeo Committee for over 10 years. She also currently serves on the Recycle Coalition of Utah Board and the Eagle Mountain Parks and Recreation Board. Susan is a graduate of the University of Utah and lives in Eagle Mountain. She has four children and six grandchildren. She loves spending time with family, camping and enjoying the mountains, horseback riding, and quilting.
